ST NICHOLAS DAY 2022
MIKULÁŠ 2022

This year we brought out St Nicholas Day celebration to The Hive in Northfleet to show and share our tradition. Christoph Bull the local historian told story about St Nicholas followed by goody bags distribution to all good children. 
Our St Nicholas Day celebration brought children, their parents and grandparents from all parts of the community, existing and new ones, to the event and contributed towards tolerance, understanding and mutual respect that underpins community cohesion within this very diverse area.
Tento rok sme priniesli oslavu Dňa svätého Mikuláša do The Hive v Northfleet, aby sme ukázali a podelili sa o našu tradíciu. Miestny historik Christoph Bull porozprával príbeh o svätom Mikulášovi, po ktorom nasledovalo rozdávanie balickov všetkým dobrým deťom. Naša Mikulášska oslava priviedla na podujatie deti, ich rodičov a starých rodičov zo všetkých častí komunity, existujúcich aj nových, a prispela k tolerancii, porozumeniu a vzájomnému rešpektu, ktoré sú základom súdržnosti komunity v tejto veľmi rozmanitej oblasti.
 

PORRAIMOS - ROMANI HOLOCAUST 2022
Porraimos - Rómsky holokaust 2022

On Tuesday, 2 Aug, we delivered our second open-air exhibition in Gravesend to raise awareness about the Holocaust and all the victims of the Nazi regime. We annually remember Roma men, women and children who died during the liquidation in the Roma camp at Auschwitz Birkenau. We say that we must learn the lessons of history, and yet the world seems to be in danger of forgetting those lessons.

V utorok 2. augusta sme v Gravesende zrealizovali druhú výstavu pod holým nebom, aby sme zvýšili povedomie o holokauste a všetkých obetiach nacistického režimu. Každoročne si pripomíname Rómov, mužov, ženy a deti, ktorí zahynuli pri likvidácii v rómskom tábore Auschwitz Birkenau. Hovoríme, že sa musíme poučiť z histórie, a napriek tomu sa zdá, že svetu hrozí, že na tieto lekcie zabudne.
 
 
 

PROJECT "BRIGHTER FUTURE" 
Projekt "JASNEJŠIA BUDÚCNOSŤ"

The "Brighter Future" is a project funded by Community Fund (Big Lottery). It helps and empowers people facing a wide range of issues such as lack of confidence, long-term loneliness due to a lack of English language skills and a narrow family network. By increasing the ability to communicate effectively in English, the project provides a better opportunity to access the labour market and/or further education. In addition, it gives people an opportunity to improve their English language skills to get a job, a better job or a promotion in their current employment. 

„Brighter Future“ je projekt financovaný komunitným fondom. Pomáha a posilňuje ľudí, ktorí čelia širokému spektru problémov, ako je nedostatok sebadôvery, dlhodobá osamelosť v dôsledku nedostatočných znalostí anglického jazyka. Zvýšením schopnosti efektívne komunikovať v anglickom jazyku projekt poskytuje lepšiu možnosť prístupu na trh práce a/alebo ďalšieho vzdelávania. Okrem toho dáva ľuďom príležitosť zlepšiť si svoje znalosti anglického jazyka, aby získali prácu, lepšiu prácu alebo povýšenie v súčasnom zamestnaní.

INTERNATIONAL ROMA DAY 2022
Medzinarodny deň Romov 2022

On 8th April we successfully delivered our second International Roma Day concert in Gravesend, Kent following the long lockdown. We raised the Roma flag in front of the St George's Church to mark the day and held a concert in the St George’s Church Hall. 
  
Across Europe, we still recall that, to date, Roma remains the most deprived ethnic group, and the fundamental rights of Roma are still being violated on a regular basis. On 8 April, we need the courage to affirm that we see our Roma community as belonging to an equally valuable group of ethnic majorities. This doesn't mean we sugarcoat the harsh present or tragic past. On the contrary, it means putting them exactly at the centre of the struggle and approaching them not from a position of weakness, apathy, and hopelessness but in a place of dignity, confidence, and strength.
8. apríla sme po dlhom lockdown úspešne uskutočnili náš druhý koncert k Medzinárodnému dňu Rómov v Gravesende v Kente. Na tento deň sme vztýčili rómsku vlajku pred kostolom sv. Juraja a usporiadali koncert v sále kostola sv. Juraja.
  
V celej Európe si stále pripomíname, že Rómovia sú dodnes najviac utlacanou etnickou skupinou a stále dochádza k pravidelnému porušovaniu základných práv Rómov. Potrebujeme odvahu, aby sme 8. apríla potvrdili, že našu rómsku komunitu považujeme za súčasť rovnako hodnotnej skupiny etnických skupin. Neznamená to, že by sme mali zlahčiť drsnú súčasnosť alebo tragickú minulosť. Naopak, znamená to postaviť ich presne do centra zápasu a nepristupovať k nim z pozície slabosti, apatie a beznádeje, ale z miesta dôstojnosti, dôvery a sily.

BOXING CLUB

BOXING CLUB is a project supported by Kent County Council Fund - RECONNECT. It is a sports project which provides two free weekly boxing sessions delivered by professional coaches in the local community for the local people. It gets children and young people active in sport and offers an opportunity to do something positive to reduce anti-social behaviour, boredom and isolation. 

BOXING CLUB je projekt podporovaný RECONNECT - Kent County Council Fund. Ide o športový projekt, ktorý poskytuje miestnym ľuďom dve bezplatné týždenné boxerské terningy v miestnej komunite. Aktivizuje deti a mladých ľudí v športe a ponúka príležitosť urobiť niečo pozitívne na zníženie antisociálneho správania, nudy a izolácie.
